Helping Services for Youth & Families is now hiring a Full-Time Project Coordinator who will be part of the Substance Abuse Prevention Team and will cover Delaware County and work out of our Manchester office. As the Coordinator, you would work with the Delaware County Drug Abuse Coalition and key community members to meet the outcomes of the grant. Full time position with 100% of the time dedicated to a substance abuse prevention grant. Salary will be based on experience.

BA/BS in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Health Promotion, Education or related field. Certified Prevention Specialist or willing to become certified within 2 years of date of hire. Knowledge of the Strengthening Families Program preferred. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Ability to travel in service area, overnight within the State of Iowa, and nationally for training. Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills. Proficient in basic computer skills. Ability to exercise good judgement and leadership in a variety of situations.

Administrative

  • Assist in completion of timely reports to funders or statistical information to agency and coalition monthly, quarterly and as requested.
  • Comply with policies and procedures set by agency and program.
  • Support agency electronic communication for currency and accuracy.
  • Check in regularly with the Supervisor and participate in an annual evaluation process.

Program

  • Attend trainings, calls, and electronic meetings to gather knowledge and information about substance abuse prevention and  the grant strategies
  • Coordinate the implementation of the action plan to meet the short-term and  long-term outcomes.
  • Work with the Delaware County Drug Abuse Coalition (DDAC), subcommittees, schools, law enforcement, and community members.
  • Electronic outreach/education such as facebook, email, and website communication.
  • Understand how substance abuse prevention relates to other disciplines and demonstrate ability to collaborate within other fields as well as working across agency program divisions.
  • Understand and adapt to service changes in the field at the national, state or local level.
  • Connect program participants to applicable community resource as applicable.
  • Participate in initial and ongoing training and mentoring of new staff and volunteers.
  • Know and understand the Iowa and federal laws as well as surrounding state laws on substance use and control as it pertains to prevention.
  • Participate in agency needs assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and grant writing as coordinated by Supervisor or Executive Director.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Supervisor or Executive Director.
