Summary: This individual will assist in the harvest of beef, hogs, and lambs. They will also help unload livestock, stun or shoot, slaughter, and wash carcasses, weigh and tag hanging carcasses, and roll into chill cooler. Additionally they will help unload and skin deer.
Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.
· Use knives, hand saws and electric saws to cut & trim carcasses to prepare for further processing.
· Inspect meat products for defects, bruises or blemishes and remove them along with any excess fat.
· Separate meats and byproducts into specified containers.
· Move full barrels of meat byproducts using a two wheel cart to the offal room.
· Weigh meats and tag carcass for weight.
· Follow all USDA guidelines
· Fill out all necessary paperwork with customer names, and carcass weights.
· Unload, hang, tag, and cut antlers off deer carcasses.
· Use portable stairs and platform to wash carcasses using a hose.
· Perform general cleaning duties including but not limited to: disposing of contents of trash, recycle, and meat byproduct containers; using detergents to clean walls and floors.
· Work toward continuous quality improvement.
· Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.
Education/Experience:
· No prior experience or training.
Language Skills:
· Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
· Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills:
· Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
· Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
