In 1852 George M. Earl came to what is now named Earlville. Earl, his wife and family settled near a heavily wooded area near a spring. Earlville was at one time known as Nottingham (after a stockholder in the railroad). The government later changed the name to Earlville.
Earlville, located in eastern Delaware County just off U.S. Highway 20, is a close-knit community with plenty to offer. Conrad Park serves as a local highlight, providing a great space for outdoor activities and gatherings. Just east of town, Delaware County’s Plum Creek Park offers additional recreational opportunities with scenic natural surroundings. The community center is available for rentals by contacting the City Clerk. Earlville is also home to a variety of businesses, including those in agriculture, automotive services, construction, finance and insurance, health and beauty, manufacturing, plumbing, heating and electrical services, and real estate.
