POSITION:            Welder, 1st   Shift/2nd shift  – JDPExtensions

POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the supervision of the Group Leader and Senior Team Leader, the welder is responsible to operate and maintain welding tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the quality and production standards of the company.


*1. Charged with the responsibility of defining obstacles and aid in creating solutions concerning safety, identifying safety hazards and suggesting corrective actions.

*2. Follow company safety practices and procedures to provide a safe work environment for all team members.

*3.  Layout, position, align and fit components into welding fixture as instructed.

*4.  Set-up gas-shield mig-welder and weld parts to job specifications.

*5.  Demonstrate basic understanding of blueprints and welding symbols to complete job assignment.

*6.  Use hand tools, clamps, and grinders to perform job tasks.

  1. Complete basic maintenance on welding equipment.

*8. Ability to weld simple assemblies without use of fixtures.

*9. Monitor and adjust robotic welder for necessary changes, throughout run, to provide acceptable quality.

  1. Must participate in Kaizen Events as required.

*11. Perform all 6S duties.

*12. Maintain acceptable 6S standards.

*13. Perform all other duties, as required, to meet customer and company quality and productivity needs.

*14. Understand & execute, if necessary, inventory paperwork & computer transactions.

*15. Adhere to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) metrics.

*16. Mobility to move within department/plant as assigned.

*17.  Perform all other duties as required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  High School diploma or equivalent is preferred. Good mathematical skills and ability to read tape measure and blue prints. Must have demonstrated skill level of wire feed (M.I.G.) welding. Able to use an oxygen/acetylene cutting torch. Ability to read and understand work order routings and instructions. Ability to lay out parts using weld fixture.

OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  General plant; safety shoes, safety glasses required. Position requires good manual dexterity, standing a majority of shift, mobility to move within department/plant as assigned. Duties may be performed in a work environment with seasonal temperatures of high heat and/or humidity. While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the member is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear, use hands and/or fingers to handle, touch objects, assemble parts, utilize tools or controls. They must have the ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques, carrying and moving parts, materials, and product.  Ability to perform tasks at a standard rate.  They must have hand and foot coordination to control and adjust equipment or tools. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Generally requires 8 -12 months to become proficient in most areas of the job.

Overtime and weekend hours may be required
