Cooler, Freezer & Warehouse Associate
Job Description:

The Edgewood Locker is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Cooler, Freezer & Warehouse Associate. This individual will help complete daily duties at Edgewood Locker by placing product into designated storage locations in coolers and freezers. In addition, this individual will transfer and load product into vehicles and within the plant. This position may also serve as an occasional delivery driver.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Stock pans, boxes and trays of meat products into frozen and refrigerated storage.
  • Label and box packaged meat products for frozen or refrigerated storage.
  • Following order cards and accurately retrieving orders for customers.
  • Filing meat away in various coolers/freezers.
  • Responsible for organizing the finished product coolers and freezers.
  • Operate forklift, pallet jack, and other equipment to move product as needed.
  • Operate wholesale delivery vehicles as back up delivery driver.
  • Work toward continuous quality improvement.
  • Stay current with changing technology.
  • Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Must be 18 or older.
  • No prior experience or training required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Must meet requirements to be on Company’s Insurance policy.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Vision –Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right, while eyes are fixed on a given point), Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

Vision requirements listed are primarily applied to being able to find and inspect product, and read directions and work orders.

  • Work in high, precarious places – Approximately less than 1/3 of on-the-job time.
  • Outdoor weather conditions – Approximately less than 1/3 of on-the-job time.
  • Extreme cold (non-weather) – Approximately more than 2/3 of on-the-job-time
